Community Yoga Class with Laura Walls In-Person

This is a community yoga class and is "pay what you can". All proceeds given to instructor.

The tradition of Hatha Yoga – creating balance and uniting opposites – informs Laura's teaching. Classes begin in a comfortable seated position, drawing your attention inside and scanning your body to make any necessary adjustments as you settle into your seat. A series of movements follow with cues for transitioning from one posture to the next. Postures may be seated, standing, or lying on the floor. Breath work is cued for the movements. There is flexibility in each posture and the expression of the posture is customized by the needs and comfort of each individual. The final posture is stillness with a focus on sensation and breath. Class ends with all seated and sharing a parting “OM”.

Postures are explained, modeled and tailored to needs/desires of each person. There are many “correct” ways to tailor movement and posture for the individual. There is a peace to be found when the mind is focused on the body, breath and movement. It’s that peace she seeks to help others to come to know.

Laura has lived most of her life in Gardiner, and with her husband, raised her children here. Her career was in various forms of public service. Now retired, she loves sharing yoga and was trained at the Kripalu School of Yoga, receiving her Kripalu Yoga Teacher Certificate in 2013.
